Tutoring and Study Habits
Tutoring:
Study habits:
Counseling Center:
- The Tutoring Center (Academic Support Services) is located in the bottom of Taylor Hall.
- Tutoring will help you! The students who tutor have taken the same classes, communicate with the professors, and know what they are talking about.
- You never need to feel like there is no one there to help you.
- It's FREE!
Study habits:
- Form a study group.
- Get to know the syllabus and when assignments are due.
- Practice, even when you don't want to.
- Your professors are there to help you. They are a value resource. Take advantage of that and talk to them. Ask questions.
- Don't leave practicing until the last minute because "quiet hours" exist.
- Piano is important. Make sure you take time to develop your skills, and even if you are finished all the levels of piano, practice more. This will be so important during your junior and senior years when you are in a classroom actually teaching children.
- Keep your resources organized. Save them on your computer or in a folder (and don't lose the folder). You never know when you may need to pull out a lesson plan regarding the violin.
Counseling Center:
- Located on the third floor of Williamson Hall
- This is a free service provided to you by professionals whose sole hope is to help you with any questions, concerns, mental/emotional health issues, etc.
